Terms of Service

Last updated: 2 July 2026

These terms govern your use of FileX, a client-side file security toolkit provided by CybXSan at files.cybxsan.com. By using FileX, you agree to them.

1. The service

FileX provides browser-based tools to encrypt, decrypt, hash, compress, scrub metadata, edit and redact PDFs, share files with public-key encryption, hide data, and generate passwords. All processing happens in your browser; FileX does not upload or store your files. Core security tools are free; certain features are part of a paid Pro subscription.

2. Your files and passwords are yours — and your responsibility

There is no password recovery and no backdoor. FileX encrypts with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from your password. We never receive your password or your files, so if you lose or forget the password to an encrypted .filex file, no one — including us — can recover its contents. This is a deliberate security property, not a limitation we can override.

You are responsible for choosing strong passwords, keeping them safe, and keeping your own backups of important files. Likewise, license keys and key-share private keys are held only in your browser; clearing your browser data or losing your device can lose them.

3. Pro subscriptions & billing

4. License keys

A Pro license key is for your own use. Please don't publish, share, or resell it. We may deactivate keys that are abused or associated with fraudulent payments.

5. Acceptable use

Use FileX lawfully. Don't use it to process content you have no right to, to infringe others' rights, or in violation of applicable law. You are solely responsible for the files you handle with the tools.

6. No warranty

FileX is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. While we aim for correct, standards-based cryptography (Web Crypto, AES-256-GCM, PBKDF2), we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any specific compliance or high-risk requirement. Evaluate its suitability for your own needs.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CybXSan will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost files, or inaccessible encrypted content, arising from your use of FileX. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for FileX in the 12 months before the claim.

8. Intellectual property

FileX, the FileX and CybXSan names, and the site's design are owned by CybXSan. These terms don't grant you rights to them beyond using the service as intended.

9. Changes

We may update the service and these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date; continued use means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law & contact

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Questions: support@cybxsan.com.
